In central London, there a many options available to straighten your teeth, but we tend to shudder at the thought of braces, that labyrinth of pipe-work that acts as a larder for food, leaves you vulnerable to jibes and you can forget about any notions of romance. Well, that’s not strictly true anymore, especially with the latest addition to the options of aligners. ClearStep is an invisible, very thin, positioner that moves the teeth gently and precisely into position for anytime up to 18 months. The positioner will be replaced every 2 weeks to continue putting pressure on the teeth until the treatment is complete. There are no wires to worry about and no-one would know it’s in the mouth unless you pointed it out! But there are two other major advantages of this treatment. It is removable allowing you to eat and clean your teeth afterwards in the normal way, (it can be left out for those more social moments too!) and the positioners can be used with bleaching agents to keep your teeth white. Prices start from £1500 up to £4500 depending on the length of treatment required and anyone can use this procedure from the age of 7 onwards.

Clearstep treatment in central London
November 12th, 2010Why choose invisalign in the city of London
November 9th, 2010
We generally think that braces are worn solely by teenagers, but they are being used more and more by adults in order to get back that healthy smile. Like most braces worn in the city of London, Invisalign is designed to straighten crooked teeth and protect the occlusion (bite) of the mouth. The treatment uses a personally designed, clear aligner that is changed every couple of weeks to accommodate movement until the teeth are straight. During consultation, it is possible to show the patient predicted movement of the teeth and the outcome, using 3-D computer generated imaging. But this aligner has several attractive advantages over others. Being removable, it allows for normal oral hygiene to be maintained, can be taken out for eating and removed for going out socially. Being transparent, it is difficult to detect in the mouth, important if you are a teenager or of a vain nature. But the best advantage of all is the period of treatment; about a third of the time that most traditional braces take. It isn’t the cheapest of treatments, coming in at around £3000, but the advantages outweigh the price.
Quicker and better straightening with Six Month Smile from Central London dentist
August 18th, 2010
When it comes to dental health and dental treatments, the US is always way ahead of the rest of the world. They pioneer the latest treatments and invest millions in the latest innovation. But the UK is close behind and frequently looking across the Atlantic for the next big thing in dental treatment. This is how we come to know about the latest orthodontic treatment that has been very successful in the US.
The Six Month Smile brace is a new system that allows for effective straightening of the teeth without the discomfort and pain associated with traditional braces. In a world where straighter teeth is becoming a more important quality, a system that delivers straighter teeth without the drawbacks is very important and this is the main reason for the success of the Six Month Smile.
The other major advantage of the Six Month is that treatment only lasts an average of six months, hence the clever name. This is on average about 75 per cent faster than the old style braces, which can make a significant difference to people’s lives, especially for younger patients not so keen on the idea of braces.
The treatment is also more discreet, using tooth-coloured wires and clear plastic brackets to minimise the aesthetic impact of the brace. Although there may be some initial discomfort when the brace has just been fitted, common to all orthodontic treatments, the Six Month is general much more comfortable than other braces and requires fewer check up appointments. A fifteen-minute appointment with a Central London dentist every five to six weeks is all that is needed during the course of treatment.

Specially designed Invisalign Teen braces from West London dentist
August 15th, 2010
Being a teenager is never easy, and gets even less easy when you are told that you have to wear braces. Of course this will benefit you in the long run, but it is often very difficult to see the big picture when you are young and struggling to deal with hormones and emotions. This is why dentists have been striving for years to make orthodontic treatment as low impact as possible. It seems like they have finally struck upon the answer.
Invisalign Teen braces are specially designed braces for teenage patients that not only straighten the teeth on average six-months faster than normal braces, but also offer a treatment that is almost completely invisible. The retainer type braces are made from one millimetre thick clear plastic, which is very difficult to spot unless you know it is there or are very close to the patients mouth, and even then it may not be noticeable.
Invisalign Teen braces also come with some special features just for younger patients. They are designed to allow late developing molar teeth to emerge unimpeded and also have blue tabs that change colour when they have been worn for sufficiently long. Ok, in all honesty this last feature is probably more for the parents but if they are paying for it they probably want to know that their child is sticking to the West London dentist’s advice about how long the retainers need to be worn for.
As well as these features, and the obvious discretion of treatment, the other major benefit is that Invisalign braces are completely removable. This means that Invisalign braces will not interrupt the cleaning of teeth, which could happen when using the traditional bracket braces.
Straighter teeth the easy way with Six Month Smile from London dentist
July 12th, 2010
Orthodontics, the process of artificially straightening the teeth, can have a really dramatic effect on the appearance of the smile and can also improve profile and the shape of the face. There are many types of brace available to patients depending on their individual needs. Traditional metal braces are often not favoured by patients because they have a reputation for being slightly uncomfortable, ugly and treatment can last for many years. This can be as long as three years, which for a teenager or younger patient is a very long time indeed.
One of the newest braces on the market is the Six Month Smile. As you can probably tell from the clever name, these braces aim to straighten teeth in just six months. Six Month braces are made in the US and have become very popular with the youth market over there because they offer such a speedy treatment time. The braces have also been specially designed to be very discreet in order to limit the visual impact of the brace. Another reason why they have become very popular with the teenage market in the states and a similar pattern is emerging in the UK. The wires and brackets used by the brace are tooth coloured or made from clear plastic, which reduces the impact often made by metal wires and brackets in traditional braces.
Another major advantage of Six Month Smile braces is that they require fewer tightening appointments that are often painful and unpleasant. They also allow London dentist to make a more accurate post-treatment prediction, as the results promised by the Six Month are very consistent. Ask your dentist for more information about the Six Month Smile brace and you could experience straighter teeth for yourself without all the fuss, pain and discomfort of metal braces.

Invisalign® System Available in London W1
October 5th, 2008
The Invisalign® system has been available since the late 1990s, and is now available at your London W1 dentists’ office. They are a series of clear plastic “teeth aligners” fabricated using complex computer methodologies. Invisalign® is currently being used to move and straighten teeth, and have replaced many wire and bracket systems. Do they work? In addition to being indiscernible, this technique allows for better and more comfortable teeth movement. Typical treatment duration for the Invisalign® system is about 1 year as compared to 2-3 years for regular braces. However, there are restrictions, and these should not be a replacement for complete regular orthodontic therapies. The Invisalign® system is not to be used on partially erupted teeth, or very crowded teeth. Invisalign® is very popular and is asked for frequently.
You should first have a consultation with your London W1 dentist to determine if the result that you are looking for can be obtained with Invisalign®. Your dentist will perform a complete examination and X-rays, and will also take impressions of your mouth to be poured in white stone by the dental laboratory. These stone models will then be evaluated by a computer, which will plan your tooth movements and a series of 12-48 clear plastic aligners will be fabricated and sent back to your dentist’s office. You will then receive the first set of trays and your dentist will help you to snap them into place over your teeth. It will seem like it doesn’t fit right. These trays are made to fit accurately to the desired position of your new teeth set-up. After a short time, your teeth will reposition themselves to the newly guided position. Your teeth will be allowed to rest, giving time for your oral bone to remodel and help your teeth tighten slightly into the new position. This process is repeated until you reach the desired end-point of your tooth movement. You will probably be scheduled to visit the dentist once a month to check on your progress and get new trays.
