To be able to deserve the title of dentist, I had to go through an extensive process of testing and registering so as to be worthy of that title. There were a lot of documents to be submitted as well as forms to fill out but in the end, I got the coveted title of being a dentist. To belong to the roster of dental professionals means that you are qualified to tackle the responsibilities expected of one. And to be able to do so, you should have had the proper education and instruction from an established university in London and neighbouring countries, including sufficient practice and experience. These are all documented and presented to the UK qualifying body for approval.
To be a registered dental practitioner means that you know what you are doing and your patients can trust you with the condition of their teeth. They have undergone several tests to ensure that they are fit to be one. It is quite scary to entrust your oral cavity just to anyone.
As I prepared for these qualifying exams, I also had to look for a couple of volunteers who would agree to be test patients during the hands on portion of the test. There were several requirements that had to be met before I can choose the right patient such as the degree of decay, the area of the damage, and the condition of the nearby structures. Finding the perfect patient was critical to my passing and being a full fledged dentist. I guess you know what happened next…
